Coach Jon's Students

Jon,

I wanted to personally thank you for all the work you have done with Peyton.

It is an absolute amazing transformation in his fundamental baseball skills.

Especially his hitting ability. At his practice last Saturday in Dana Point not only did he hit every ball pitched to him we had him hitting to right field, left field and center field on command.

I was floored!

In today’s first game he hit two legitimate home runs. He knocked two over the outfielders heads!

Great work.

Best Regards, Richard (Dad)

This is an email that was sent from Coach Marc P. to his entire team.

Team,

I get nothing out of this other than fulfilling the desire to have your sons reach their baseball potential. If you have any interest in private instruction for your son to further his baseball development, I wanted to let you in on Matthew’s secret.

As much as I would like to take credit for Matthew’s development as a baseball player, a lot of the credit goes to Jon Studer of Laguna Batting Cages. We have tried a couple of other private instructors, but we are by far the happiest with Jon.

Jon is very much a talking coach and explains in terms that a 10 year old understands every element of what he is teaching. More important, Jon explains why it is important to follow his direction.

Matthew is always excited to go to his lessons with Jon and learns something new every time. The biggest testament to Jon’s ability to reach kids is that whenever Matthew does anything of significance (good or bad) on a baseball field, inevitably he says, “I can’t wait to tell Coach Jon.”

Best wishes, Coach Marc P.

Comments by Brett’s Dad (Richard Tracy) 5/7/08

Brett had a .854 Slug% – .566 OB% – .521 BA – 8/2b – 2/HR – 6/Ks in 54 at bats this year(2009)!!!

Coach Jon Studer has established a great rapport/relationship with my 11-year old son from the start, working together for the past year. This friendly, positive and good-natured relationship has been a very important factor in Brett’s acceptance and adoption of Jon’s teaching.

Brett’s batting performance and consistency has improved and he has been able to take Jon’s philosophy into actual game situations. Most importantly, Brett’s confidence on the field both offensively and defensively has increased measurably since he started working with Jon.

While we have encountered some coaches who question the rotational approach to hitting, Jon has been very helpful in getting Brett to listen to everyone, but to sort out what he hears without changing his basic hitting approach.

Even though Brett is working on a daily basis with his team coaches, Jon has been by far the most influential in Brett’s development as a hitter/overall player.

He has also helped me to understand why many coaches do not understand or appreciate the long-term benefit of learning rotational at an early age.

It is very impressive to see Jon identify problems during coaching sessions and how quickly he can get Brett to recognize and correct the problem.

Brett has adopted Jon’s instruction to pay attention and make adjustments by learning from yours and others at bats.

Jon’s encouragement has brought more focus and energy to Brett in his games and work ethic at practices.

We look forward to continuing working with Jon as Brett advances through Pony League and into high school baseball in the footsteps of his older brother.

My Hero Project

====================
My HERO is my Coach Jon.

Coach Jon is my batting coach and he taught me how to be a good softball player.

Jon was born in Cleveland Ohio on July 16, 1971 and grew up liking to play baseball. He is a big Cleveland Indians fan and he went to a lot of games with his family.

He believes in school and went to college and got his degree too.

Coach Jon moved to California 6 years ago and he bought the Laguna Beach Batting Cages & Training Center business here in the Canyon.

Right away he began to help kids like me to become better baseball players. Sometimes he coaches at the high school too and helps older kids too. Jon also plays on an adult team when he is not working. But most of the time he is at the batting cages helping everyone to play better.

I met Jon a year ago and he helped me right away. He helped me to understand the game and the rules too. He was so helpful that I started taking lessons with him every week.

He is my hero because he really cares about making me a good softball player and he takes the time to help me learn. He loves the game and is a real good sport even when I am not doing well.

He makes me want to get better and become the best player on my team.

He even let me have my birthday party at his batting cages.

I am glad that I picked Coach Jon as my hero. Coach Jon really believes in me and I believe that he is the best coach ever!!!!

He is very helpful to everyone and spends all of his time helping others for the love of the game. I hope he will coach me forever.
